The 1982 TV commercial for ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ Atari video game doesn’t make you feel nostalgic (well a little), rather it reminds you how often there has been a disparity between the advertised game and the reality. Think E3.

If you don’t know, ‘E.T.’ has been debated for many moons as to whether or not it’s the worst game of all time, however lets just agree it was a bad game in general. All this aside, this game is a good example of how over the years we have put our faith in the quality of the promoted game, only to find the crushing reality of the result being an “E.T.”

We are all guilty of “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me” because every year we always get our hopes up at E3.

What games have not met your expectations leaving you feeling like you have been dealt an “E.T.”?

Got something to say about this?
